Emails Reveal Epstein Maintained Ties with Influential Emirati Businessman

(MENAFN) Disgraced American financier Jeffrey Epstein maintained communication with a prominent Emirati businessman for more than a decade following his 2008 conviction on sex offense charges, according to reports.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, chairman and CEO of Dubai-based logistics firm DP World, was among the high-profile figures who continued corresponding with Epstein even after his imprisonment for crimes that included procuring a minor for prostitution. Emails reviewed by media outlets show bin Sulayem sent highly personal messages and discussed business, political contacts, and personal matters with Epstein.

In a September 2015 exchange, bin Sulayem described renewed ties with a foreign exchange student in Dubai in “intimate and boastful” terms. The correspondence also shows bin Sulayem expressed interest in visiting Epstein’s private Caribbean Island and offered help with Epstein’s plans for a private resort.

Epstein acted as an intermediary in business connections for bin Sulayem over the years, linking him to figures such as New York real estate investor Andrew Farkas, Hyatt Hotels Chairman Tom Pritzker, retail billionaire Les Wexner, and banker Jes Staley, then a JPMorgan executive. Some emails detailed efforts to arrange meetings and explore potential deals, although it remains unclear which introductions resulted in actual business.

A spokesperson for Farkas said the relationship was strictly business, expressed regret over the association, and condemned Epstein’s crimes. Pritzker declined to comment, while Staley was later barred by UK regulators for misleading authorities about his links to Epstein.

Emails also indicate that bin Sulayem and Steve Bannon discussed a potential meeting in the UAE in 2018, though it is unknown if it took place. Days before Epstein’s 2019 arrest, he circulated a contact list that included bin Sulayem, and bin Sulayem’s last message to Epstein contained only a non-functional attachment.

Requests for comment from bin Sulayem and DP World went unanswered.
